Illinois Track & Field Highlights – 2025 Boys Conference Meets

The regular season for Boys teams ended with a bang as storms hit Illinois beginning Thursday causing numerous delays in some of those meets. It did also help some athletes with achieving some lofty personal bests with those high winds playing a factor. The leaderboards flipped around as we head into the final two weeks of the Boys season.
Here are highlights of Boys Conference Meets that took place from May 6 until May 17.
West Suburban Conference-Silver @ Oak Park-River Forest (5/15) – It was a wild night on Thursday at this conference meet held on the defending 3A State Champions Oak Park-River Forest new campus track. High winds played a big roll in some of the races that took place before a storm hit the area causing a 90-minute delay in the meet that ended just after 11 PM. The host Huskies came away with another conference divisional title scoring 159 points. York scored 100 points to finish second with Downers Grove North placing third (87 points). A team to watch in the future is Hinsdale Central that scored 184 points to win the Frosh/Sophomore title with 184 points winning by 74.5 points.
Meet management an hour before the meet made the decision to run the dashes from South to North with the aid at the start of a meet of a consistant 25 mph wind. It went lower before the start of the race, but the change of direction paid off in a big way. The 100 Meter Dash produced three of the top 10 times in the state. Defending 3A state champion Caleb Schulz of Oak Park-River Forest ran a state leading 10.38 to win the 100 Meter Dash as Dominic Tresslar of Hinsdale Central ran 10.41 to finish second. Jordan Ademuyiwa of Glenbard West ran 10.59 to finish third. The 110 Meter Hurdles also took advantage of the change in direction of the race. Luke De Simone of York took control of the race early running 14.37 to win the race. Ben Schoettle of Glenbard West ran 14.59 to finish second. The temperature and the wind dropped after the delay. Schoettle ran 39.08 to win the 300 Meter Hurdles De Simone running 39.34 to finish second. Tresslar exacted his revenge in the 200 Meter Dash as he ran a personal best of 21.85 for the win ahead of Praxton Robinson of Proviso West (22.10), Danny Karnatz of York (22.22) and Schultz (22.32).
