Chioma Njoku Advances to NCAA Championships


JACKSONVILLE, FL – The second day of the NCAA East First Round meet started with Chioma Njoku advancing to the NCAA Championships set to take place in Eugene, OR from June 11-14.

Chioma Njoku placed sixth in the first round of the women’s hammer throw today, sending her through to the NCAA Championships. She remains the program record holder for the hammer throw with her throw today of 65.60m improving her previous personal record of 65.37m.

Morgan Graham also competed in the women’s hammer throw with marks of 53.90m. Maya Valmon ran in the women’s 400m with a time of 52.81 seconds, just missing the next round by 2 spots.

Yesterday, Eric Albright and Jack Barchet ran in the men’s 800m. Finishing third in his heat, Albright automatically qualified for the quarterfinals set to take place tomorrow at 7:05 PM, running a 1:48.62. Barchet finished at 1:48.37, just missing the time qualification by one position.

Tomorrow, Albright will be the only Terp competing as he is set to run in the men’s 800m quarterfinal.
