COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Decorated sophomore twin vaulters Amanda and Hana Moll each secured trips to the NCAA Championships today, navigating the West Prelims field at Texas A&M’s E.B. Cushing Stadium. The pair of indoor national champions will each be chasing their first outdoor NCAA title in two weeks’ time.
On the second of the four-day West Prelims, the twins became the first UW women to punch their tickets to Eugene, which will host NCAAs from June 11-14. It was a great first day on the track for the Dawgs as well, as five women advanced from round one into the quarterfinals coming up on Saturday, where they can join the Molls and advance to the final site.
The Huskies went 4-for-4 in the women’s 1,500-meters first rounds, as Amina Maatoug, Chloe Foerster, Sophie O’Sullivan, and Claire Yerby all finished in the top-three of their heats to advance, as the field was trimmed from 48 women down to 24. Stephanie Driscoll also reached the quarters in the women’s 800-meters.
