EUGENE, Ore. – CJ Singleton secured a spot in the 3,000m steeplechase with a season-best time and Ethan Coleman earned All-American honors to lead a trio of Irish efforts on day one of the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.
Michael Danzi competed in the first of two heats in the 1,500m race on Wednesday evening. Danzi ran a 3:53.24 to place ninth in his heat and 21st overall.
CJ Singleton posted the third-fastest final lap of his heat in the 3,000m steeplechase on his way to a season-best time of 8:28.03. Singleton placed sixth in the heat and earned a spot in the final on Friday by having the fastest time of non-automatic qualifiers across the two heats, earning one of two spots to non-top five finishers in the two semifinals. It will be his second-consecutive NCAA final appearance in the 3,000m steeplechase.
Ethan Coleman led the pack of 24 athletes in the 10,000m for the first 2,800m of the race on Wednesday evening. Coleman remained in the top four of the race through 5,000m of the event. Down the stretch, Coleman made a huge kick at the end of the event to move into 15th place and earn Second Team All-American honors with a final time of 29:22.01.
Singleton will be back in action on Friday at 5:24 pm PDT (8:24 pm EDT) in the steeplechase final. Friday also marks the start of the heptathlon competition, which will feature Jadin O’Brien and Alaina Brady. The heptathlon kicks off with the 100m hurdles at 11:45 am PDT (2:45 pm EDT).
