Natasha Wilson and Omar Ahmed take Barry Island 10km titles

South Wales wins on Sunday for Wilson and Ahmed as we bring you our latest UK-wide endurance racing round-up

BARRY ISLAND 10km, South Wales, June 15

Omar Ahmed added yet another 10km title to his list of successes with an overall victory in 30:06 as Jonathan Butler was left trailing over a minute-and-a-half behind.

The Inter-Counties Cross-Country fourth placer had already won four road races this year to go with 15 in 2024.

For the women, Natasha Wilson won her second event in a week after winning the Swansea University half-marathon in 72:13 seven days earlier.

Here, the former Miss Cockram won from Olivia Tsim by more than a minute in 34:21.

COLSHAW HALL 10km, Knutsford, Cheshire, June 15

Ben Connor, the 2021 Tokyo Olympian,  got the better of a quartet, who were operating at sub-30-minute pace, before winning by six seconds from American Nick Hauger, in 29:29.

Lee Gratton and John Beattie followed over this course, which is situated in a part of the country noted for its fast-racing times.

Samantha Harrison had a more comfortable victory in the women’s section when heading Sarah Dufour-Jackson by over half-a-minute in 32:34.

The Mansfield runner, who raced over 10,000m in the 2022 European Champs and Commonwealth Games, clocked 30:51 in the Valencia 10km in 2023 before a 2:25:59 in that year’s London Marathon.

In third, W45 Sue Longley, who set a British all-time best over 5km earlier this year, clocked 34:40.
