Get ready for the Brasov Running Festival on October 4-5 in Romania
Mass runners and the planet’s best road athletes will once again gather in October for the Brasov World Athletics Elite Label race. This year, the tRUNsylvania International 10K launches its new sub-elite category.
The fifth edition of the Brasov Running Festival will take place on October 4-5, bringing together thousands of mass runners, road running enthusiasts, and elite athletes in a bid to rewrite the record books.
On Sunday October 5, the tRUNSylvania International 10K will see many of the world’s fastest distance runners battling over the fast three-lap course in the Coresi urban regeneration project, close to the historic city centre of Brasov.
Elite fields for the both men’s and women’s races will be announced in the coming weeks, but expectations are high given the incredible depth of the Brasov race – an event that ranked as the sixth most competitive road race of 2024 in the World Athletics Competition Performance rankings.
Nine of the top ten male finishers last year recorded personal bests, while in the women’s race, ten athletes finished under 31 minutes. The event remains the only World Athletics Elite Label competition in the South East of Europe and continues to grow each year.
Homegrown talents and emerging international professionals are now given the chance to run with the elites through a request-based entry system. The race will open itself to athletes with recent performances under 32 minutes 19 seconds in men and 35 minutes 59 seconds in women. Requests can be submitted to race organizers via [email protected]. All applications will be assessed and considered based on availability. The organizers will also be able to offer limited hospitality packages at subsidized costs.
Mass runners can choose between distances of 5km and 10km, as well as a 20km mixed course that combines off-road and road sections. Families can enjoy fun runs, alongside children’s races for all ages.
