Bears open 2025 campaign Aug. 29 in San Francisco
Golden Bears Enter Second Season In ACC
BERKELEY – California’s cross country team has announced its 2025 schedule, with six meets on the slate this fall in its second season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Golden Bears will open the season on Aug. 29 at the USF Invitational, a meet in which Cal has participated for over two decades. The Bears had a memorable performance to open last season, with alumnus Carrick Denker winning the men’s race and teammate Garrett MacQuiddy placing second. It marked the first 1-2 finish for the Bears since 2016.
Cal will then head to the UC Riverside Invitational on Sept. 20. It will be the Bears’ first appearance in the event since the 2022 season, when nine runners set personal bests.
On Oct. 10, for the fourth consecutive year, Cal will travel to Eugene, Oreg. for the Bill Dellinger Invitational. At last year’s event, 13 Bears set personal records or seasonal bests that led both the men’s and women’s teams to a ninth-place finish. Cal will then head back to the Bay Area to cap off the regular season at the Bronco Invitational in Santa Clara.
In their second appearance at the ACC Championships, the Bears will travel to Louisville, Ky., on Oct. 31. In their first appearance last season, rising junior Addie Johnson was the women’s team’s top finisher for the third time during the year. The Bears will then move on to the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships in Columbia, Mo., on Nov. 22 to complete the 2025 campaign.
