The first-of-its kind global running program was launched earlier this year and took place in both Boston and London
PUMA has announced the return of its Project3 initiative, with 100 new participants set to gear up for the New York City Marathon (November 2).
A fresh cohort of marathon runners will have the unique opportunity to experience life as an elite PUMA athlete, trial innovative running products, gain access to PUMA coaches and athletes, with the potential to take home significant performance-based prizes on race day.
The first-of-its kind global running program was launched earlier this year and it took place at both the Boston and London Marathons.
This coincided with the release of the PUMA Fast-R NITRO Elite 3, which was worn by runners as part of the initiative.
Over 180 participants who took part in both Boston and London crossed the finish line, with 69 runners smashing their previous bests by three minutes – 41 of which banked a total of $132,000 in prize money.
It was a day to remember for Great Britain’s Lucy Jones, who finished first in the mass participation field, recording a time of 2:30:23, whilst knocking a mind-blowing 22 minutes and 31 seconds off her previous best in the marathon.
She took home a total prize of $9000 as the fastest Project3 female, breaking her previous record by more than three minutes and being the Project3 runner with the biggest time improvement.
At the NYC Marathon, 100 new participants will be selected to gear up like an elite PUMA athlete, with the chances to win performance-based prizes on race day.
The prizes are as follows:
Fastest male – $3000
Fastest female – $3000
Biggest time improvement male – $3000
Biggest time improvement female – $3000
Improve your PB by three minutes or more – $3000
To apply you must:
- Hold a valid 2025 NYC Marathon bib/entry
- Have an existing marathon PB of 3:10 or less
Applications close on Wednesday, August 6. You can apply for Project3 here.
