2025 Summer Mileage, Week 7, Day 3, August 20, 2025, a relaxed run on Wednesday!

Wednesday, warm-up, 45-60 minutes, 6x 150 meter stride-outs, cooldown.

In this hot weather, remember to hydrate. 2-3 liters a day of water, watch out for carbonated beverages, and caffeine (in moderation). Do not take sports drinks with caffeine, ginseng and things that you have not discussed with your coach and family physician. Those drinks can cause heart issues. They are not a joke!

Things happen!

Elliott Giles is seen in center of photo from Paris 2024. At the  2025 Novuna British Trials. Eliott was tripped up, look at Neil Gourley trying to stay on his feet. These things happen. How do you recover?

In the 1972 Olympic final of the 10,000m, a young Finnish runner, Lasse Viren, fell with Tunisian superstar and Olympic champion Mohammed Ghamouddi. Ghammoudi did not recover. Viren got up, and took about 600 meters to catch up, going on to win the 10,000m in an Olympic record.

In 2023, at the US Championships, Kenneth Rooks fell in the steeplechase, normally the death knell for a steepler. Kenneth got up, and went on to win the US title that year. The next year, Kenneth Rooks went on to take the Olympic silver medal in the steeplechase in Paris.

Things happen. Keep your focus and remember, to get up, and move again! Be patient!
