CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Three Illinois track and field assistant coaches (Heath Baldwin, Ayden Owens-Delerme and Deanna Price) join high jumper Rose Yeboah at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan on Sept. 13-21. Fans can tune-in to watch on Peacock, NBC and FloTrack.
Yeboah, the 2024 NCAA Champion and 2025 national runner-up in the high jump, will represent her home country of Ghana at the World Championships. She qualified with her personal-best leap of 1.97m (6-5 1/2) that she used to win her national high jump title. That mark also qualified her to the Paris Olympic Games last summer and she’s ready to represent Ghana on the world stage again in a few weeks.
Owens-Delerme also qualified to the World Championships with a personal-best score in the decathlon of 8,732 points. He recorded that mark last April at the Mt. SAC Relays and it’s also the Puerto Rican national record. This will be his third senior World Athletics Championships as competed in both the 2022 and 2023 championships.
Baldwin and Price each had to punch their tickets at the USATF Outdoor National Championships two weeks ago. Price did so by becoming a USA Champion hammer thrower with her mark of 78.53m (257-7) to qualify to her fifth World Championships. Baldwin was the USA decathlon runner-up on a score of 8,407 points to qualify to his first outdoor World Championships.
