Previous Record – 15-1 ½ by Moll July 9, 2023, at USATF Nationals, Eugene, Oregon

The Moll twin sisters, Hana and Amanda, equaled or broke the national high school record in the vault – counting indoors and out – nine times, beginning in February 2022, their junior season, when Amanda went 14-9 to equal the indoor record set three years earlier by a fellow Washingtonian, Chloe Cunliffe (West Seattle). A month later the sisters traveled to Austin, Texas, to compete in the prestigious Texas Relays high school competition, where Amanda raised the outdoor record half an inch to 14-9 ½, while her sister no-heighted. The rivalry between the sisters has continued, as eventually it was Hana who was World Junior champion in 2022 and made the U.S. team at the Senior World Championships in 2023. To make that team, Hana finished 3rd at the U.S. Nationals while this time it was Amanda who no-heighted. It was in the Qualifying round at Worlds that Hana, two years ago this week, cleared 15-3 to establish the existing HSR; she wound up tied for 9th in the Final. The Molls remain the only girls to have vaulted 15 feet while in high school. Both compete collegiately for the University of Washington, not far from their hometown of Olympia, the state capital. With Olympic dreams, where else should you be from? They are both set to compete for Team USA in Tokyo next month at the World Championships.

National High School Records Through the Years appears once a week, compiled and written by a track historian, Jack Pfeifer (Lake Oswego, Oregon). Inquiries may be directed to him by email ([email protected]).
