CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson cross country program is set for its first meet of the season this Friday, Aug. 29, as they head to Spartanburg, S.C. for the Eye Opener. The meet will take place at the Roger Milliken Center with the women’s 5K kicking off at 6:30 p.m. and the men’s 8K to follow at 7:10 p.m.
Earlier this week, the USTFCCCA announced its preseason regional rankings where the Clemson women were ranked sixth and the men, 14th in the Southeast Region.
Looking at the current rosters, Head Coach Vicky Pounds shared that on paper, both the men’s and women’s teams are the most talented groups she has coached during her time at Clemson. Due to this, her expectations are high but with their continued hard work, discipline and dedication, she is confident this group will rise to the occasion and reach their full potential.
With the new season rapidly approaching, Pounds has her eyes set on keeping everyone healthy and ready to toe the line at every postseason meet, starting with the ACC Championships on October 31.
