TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona cross country teams will open their 2025 campaign at the George Kyte Invitational this Saturday at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff. The men’s 4.5-mile race is set for 1:30 p.m. MST, followed by the women’s 2.5-mile race at 2:30 p.m. MST.
This will mark the Wildcats’ first appearance at the George Kyte since 2023, when both the men and women finished third overall in their respective competitions. That day featured a flurry of personal bests, with 11 Wildcats improving their career marks. Senior Cooper Quigley once again leads the charge for the men after finishing as Arizona’s top runner at the meet each of the past two appearances.
The 2025 edition of the meet also ushers in a new era for Arizona cross country. Associate head coach Jay Koloseus will guide the program in his first season under first-year head coach of cross country and track and field Andrew Dubs.
The women’s side will feature several fresh faces, with Kayla Lark, Amelia North and Dunja Sakima set to make their Wildcat debuts. Sakima, who excelled in the 800 meters during her freshman track season, will take on cross country for the first time. On the men’s side, newcomers Kai Epompsa, Golinski and Arizona Gatorade Runner of the Year Bryson Nielsen are slated for their collegiate debuts in the red and blue.
