Blair Bartlett Cruises To Fastest Time, Nathan Lee Wins Photo Finish Over Benjamin Berman

Nathan Lee from The Brunswick School CT showed his tenacity over the final straightaway by getting to the finish line first in close Varsity 1 race at the Bowdoin Park XC Classic. 

Saturday’s meet, held on the course NXR Northeast/New York course, featured a competitive boys individual race. Lee edged out Benjamin Berman of Bronx Science NY as both were timed in 15:36.5. 

Lee and Berman moved into a tie for 10th all-time on the challenging 5,000-meter layout at Bowdoin Park. Lee’s time made him the fastest ever from Connecticut. 

Ryan Sykes of Horace Greeley was third in 15:37.8 and Lee’s teammate, Teddy Hojlo, was fourth in 15:39.9.

The top boys teams in the Northeast, Christian Brothers Academy and Haddonfield Memorial of New Jersey, did not run their top lineups. The two teams expect to race next the next two weekends the Shore Coaches Invitational and the Manhattan Invitational. 

Bronx Science won the Varsity 1 team title, 78 to 84 over Westfield NJ. 

Bishop Hendricken RI won the Varsity 2 section with 60 points, led by Colby Flynn’s win in 15:51.6. Clay Stevens of Manalapan NJ was second in 15:53.7.

Blair Bartlett of The Lawrenceville School NJ went straight to the front and dominated the Varsity 2 girls race, winning by 36 seconds in 18:02.3. Her time is 27th fastest in course history. 

Maeve Going of Sacred Heart NY was second in 18:38.5.

Cumberland RI ran impressively to beat Northeast#3 Princeton NJ and won the team title, 49-62.

Horace Greeley NY sophomore Malina Santee won the Varsity 1 girls race in 19:16.2.

Haddonfield Memorial put six runners across the finish line in the top 16 to easily win the team title with 27 points. 

In the merge, Cumberland came out on top with 62 points, followed by Princeton with 79 and Haddonfield 109.

The Bishop Hendricken boys finished wih 83 points in the team merge, with Chaminade NY second with 151 and Manalapan NJ third with 191.
