Badgers wrap up season opener with two top-5 finishes


MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s and women’s track and field teams opened their outdoor campaign this weekend in Florida, competing at the UCF Bulls Invite on Friday and Saturday, highlighted by Gio Wearing and Emma Kelley’s top-5 finishes.

In the 110-meter hurdles, junior Gio Wearing finished second with a time of 13.70 seconds among a stack field of 31 competitors. 

Meanwhile, Emma Kelley showcased her versatility, placing fourth in her 1500 meter debut with a time of 4:22.70. This marks the seniors second top-5 finish on the weekend. 

Freshman Landon Gallun rounded out the Badgers competition with a 39th place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 10.84 seconds. 

Up Next: The Badgers split up for meets in Florida and California.  Wisconsin will compete at the Hurricane Collegiate Invite, hosted by the University of Miami on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29. Out West, the Badgers will compete at the Mangrum Invite on Friday, March 28.
