SEATTLE – On the strength of what was unquestionably the best season ever for a women’s collegiate pole vaulter, Husky sophomore Amanda Moll was named the Women’s Indoor National Field Athlete of the Year today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Moll is the second Husky to win the national award in the past six seasons. In 2020, another record-setting pole vaulter, Olivia Gruver, won the same honor.
Moll continues to have the best mark in the world in 2025 with her NCAA Record make of 16-1 1/4 (4.91-meters) set in a win at the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Feb. 28. That was the fourth time she broke the NCAA Record this season, after doing so three times in one meet at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Feb.15.
She won her first NCAA Championship at the indoor meet in Virginia Beach, Va. just over a week ago on Mar. 14, going 1-2 with twin sister Hana, as both of them cleared a new meet record of 15-5. The big points from the 1-2 finish by the Molls helped the Husky women’s team nearly double its previous best point total at NCAA Indoors, and tie for a fourth-place team finish, the highest ever for the UW women at NCAAs indoors or outdoors.
