KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Vols and Lady Vols dominated the second and final day of the annual Tennessee Invite, earning 12 first-place finishes on Saturday to close out the home meet at Tom Black Track. Additionally, the Big Orange totaled four marks that ranked top-10 in the NCAA this season.
Maryville native Grant Campbell shined in the men’s high jump for the Vols, clearing a college-best mark of 2.20m (7-2.5) to win the meet for the second year in a row. The sophomore ranks tied for fourth in the NCAA this season and moved into Tennessee’s all-time top 10 outdoor list – equaling Alvin Harper (1990) as the No. 7 performer in program annals.
The men’s 100-meter dash featured a fast field of athletes with Tennessee ties, including UT grad student Deron Dudley’s mark of 10.06 seconds that finished third at the meet and ranked fourth in the NCAA this outdoor season. Additionally, unattached Vols Javonte’ Harding (10.05) and Traunard Folson (10.09) turned in remarkable outings to finish second and fourth, respectively, in a slightly wind-aided heat (+2.6 m/s tailwind).
Sophomore Kalib Branch stormed to the Tennessee Invite title in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, clocking a wind-aided (+3.1 m/s) time of 13.53 seconds in the final to finish first overall. The Hampton, Georgia, native’s time ranks sixth in the NCAA this season.
The Lady Vol 4×400-meter relay ‘A’ squad set a new outdoor season-best in its victory with a time of 3:31.54. Cydney Wright, Esther Joseph, Kaniya Johnson and Javonya Valcourt combined for the mark that currently ranks sixth on the 2025 NCAA outdoor list.
