Extine Finishes Second with Program Record in 110m Hurdles at the NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Arizona Track & Field closed competition in the NCAA Outdoor Championships with Zach Extine setting a program record and finishing runner-up in the men’s 110m hurdles on Friday.

Extine dusted his record with a time of 13.13 in the men’s 110m hurdles final to finish second to Auburn’s Ja’Kobe Tharp (13.05) and earn First-Team All-American honors. He set the previous record (13.17) on March 3, 2025, in Tucson.

He is just the third men’s 110m hurdler to earn All-American at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in program history (Frank Bennett, 1986 & John Johnson, 1984). With his runner-up finish, he is also the highest finisher in the outdoor men’s 110m hurdles in program history (9th; Barnett and 6th; Johnson).

Extine appeared to run a clean race in the final, after striking a couple of hurdles in the semifinals, and was just .08 seconds off the first-place finisher. With the time of 13.13, Extine falls within the Olympic qualifying range and could compete on the international stage in the future.
