CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami’s Devoux Deysel and Louisville’s Synclair Savage, a pair of national champions, headline the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field end-of-year honors, the league announced Monday.
The honorees were selected via a vote of the league’s head coaches:
Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year: Ethan Strand, North Carolina
Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year: Grace Hartman, NC State
Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year: Devoux Deysel, Miami
Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year: Synclair Savage, Louisville
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year: Joseph Taylor, Duke
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year: Braelyn Baker, Duke
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year: Shawn Wilbourn, Duke
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year: Vin Lannana, Virginia
After being named the ACC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Year, North Carolina’s Strand followed it up with a stellar outdoor season as well. Strand finished as the national runner-up in the men’s 1500-meter run, crossing the finish line in 3:47.33. The standout from Vestavia, Alabama, also earned honorable mention All-America honors in the men’s 5,000-meter run. He becomes the second straight Tar Heel to be named the ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year, joining teammate Parker Wolfe in 2023. Strand has also been recognized as a semifinalist for The Bowerman.
Hartman put together an incredible season for the Wolfpack and became NC State’s first ACC Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year since Katelyn Tuohy in 2022. The NC State junior was the ACC champion in the women’s 5,000-meter run, setting the ACC Championship record with a time of 15:12.03. At the NCAA Championships, Hartman earned a pair of First-Team All-America honors, finishing as the silver medalist in the 10,000-meter run and fifth in the 5,000-meter run. The Oakwood, Ohio, native also set the ACC record in the 10,000-meter run on March 27 during the Raleigh Relays with a time of 31:20.60.
Deysel becomes the first student-athlete from Miami to be named the ACC Outdoor Field Performer of the Year after winning the 2025 NCAA men’s javelin national championship. The graduate student from Garsfontein, South Africa, recorded a mark of 81.75m…
