Chapin Stewart Joins Gamecock Track & Field Staff – University of South Carolina Athletics

COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 6, 2025) – Third-year head coach Tim Hall has announced the hiring of Chapin Stewart to the Gamecock Track & Field coaching staff. Stewart will assist with the distance group and the cross country team, while also aiding with the internal operations.

Stewart arrives in Columbia after serving as a volunteer assistant coach with Florida Track & Field and Cross Country. While with the Gators, Stewart assisted in the training programs and routines of the middle distance/distance groups. Stewart also aided with the on-campus recruiting visits and the operations side of the team.

Stewart has also coached at Saint Thomas More as the Assistant Cross Country Coach where he was named 2023 Milesplit Louisiana Cross Country Assistant Coach of the Year. While with Saint Thomas More, Stewart’s squad won the 2023 LHSAA Division II Girls Cross Country State Championship, led by Camryn Haik who captured the individual state title.

Stewart graduated from University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration – Finance. He was also a two-year member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams at Louisiana and was part of the 2022 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
