SEATTLE – Three Husky women’s throwers opened up action at the Triton Invitational today in San Diego. MaKayla Kelby, Kaia Tupu-South, and Beatrice Asomaning were all in the women’s discus this afternoon, and Asomaning also threw the hammer earlier in the day.
Kelby led the Huskies in the discus today with a best of 174-2, improving on her season-best and moving up to 29th nationally. Asomaning also had a small season-best going 172-0 and Tupu-South threw 163-11.
Asomaning had a hammer throw mark of 166-8 to start the morning.
Saturday the throwing events will start at 9:30 a.m. with the men’s invitational hammer throw featuring Jayden White in the third of three flights. The women’s javelin invite begins at 10 a.m. and will feature Natalie Holmer, Kathleen Horn, Saydi Orange, and Tanya Simora.
Elijah Mason will go in the men’s discus invite flight starting at 1:30 p.m. At 2 p.m., the men’s invite javelin will feature Chandler Ault and Jack Olsen.
The final event start times for the Huskies on Saturday will be the open men’s discus with Nolan Such at 4 p.m. and the women’s shot invite with Kelby and Tupu-South at 5 p.m.
