SEATTLE – A split Dawg squad heads back out on the road this week, hitting three meets all on Saturday, Apr. 29, highlighted by Washington’s first entries at the Penn Relays in fourteen years. Along with the group headed to Philadelphia, the Huskies will also be in action at the Fresno State Invitational, and the Desert Heat Classic, hosted by Arizona.

Just two weeks now separate the Huskies from the Pac-12 Championships, and athletes will be using that time to round into postseason form. The group heading to Fresno consists of the jumpers, vaulters, and multi-event athletes. The throwers and sprinters will be in action in Tucson.

At the legendary Penn Relays, the Huskies will run for the wheels in the men’s 4xMile, the women’s 4×1500-meters, and the women’s 4×800-meters. Those three championship events will all take place on Saturday. The women’s 4x1500m is up first at 9:40 a.m. Pacific time, followed by the men’s 4xMile at 10:20 a.m., and then the women’s 4x800m at 11:56 a.m.

Expected to run in the men’s 4xMile is NCAA Indoor Champion Luke Houser, NCAA Outdoor Champion Joe Waskom, and All-Americans Sam Ellis and Aaron Ahl. The two women’s relays will be comprised of Chloe Foerster, Anna Gibson, Madison Heisterman, Sophie O’Sullivan, Carley Thomas, and Kayley DeLay. Washington last competed at the Penn Relays in 2009, taking second in the men’s sprint medley relay, and third in the women’s 4×1500-meters. Prior to that UW’s last trip was back in 1993.

Action at Fresno State on Saturday starts at 10 a.m. and will go into the evening. The Desert Heat Classic starts at 12 noon with the hammer throws, and 2:30 for the next field event. The first running event at Arizona doesn’t start until 5:25 p.m.
