Cindy Sember is one of the world’s finest 100m hurdlers and competes for Great Britain. Cindy competes in one of the toughest events in all of track and field, the 100-meter hurdles. Run over 100 meters, with the first hurdle 13 meters from the start and the final nine hurdles 8.5 meters apart. After the last hurdle, the hurdlers have 10.5 meters to the very finish.
Cindy Sember took 4th in a very tight Rio 2016 Olympics final in the 100m hurdles. In 2019, she was fifteenth in the semi-final in Doha WC. In 2022, Cindy took bronze in the 100m at the Commonwealth Games and also was fifth at the World Championships.
The 100-meter hurdles will be one of the tightest events in Budapest. There is NO room for a screw-up or miscalculation. Cindy Sember is a veteran of the Hurdle wars. She has competed in Commonwealth games, World Champs, indoor and out, European Champs, indoor and out, and Olympic Games. Budapest is a big deal for Cindy.
Cindy Sember will be racing in Budapest and competing for Team GB. Cindy took the silver medal in the 2021 European Indoors with her sister, Tiffany Porter, who took bronze; there is a wonderful picture of the two sisters after the race in Torun.
This interview was recorded in March 2023 at the Global Athletics Media & Business Conference. Special thanks to Cindy, who is always a fantastic interview (listen to how she explains the 100m hurdles). Special thanks to Mike Deering for managing the production of our RBR Interviews.
And thanks to Global Athletics’ Mark Wetmore, Sandra Nel Kur, and their team, the GAM event is unique and one of the most important media events of the year for me. I do not miss it.
