MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s track and field team competes this Saturday in Chicago at the Gately Stadium for the Badgers Midwest Invitational. Field events begin at 11:45 a.m., and running events start at 2:15 p.m. The Badgers take on DePaul, Milwaukee, Purdue, and Southern Illinois in the meet.

1. GOING THE DISTANCE: A handful of distance runners will return to the track this Saturday after a successful opening indoor meet. Leading the pack are senior Anna Schoesser, freshman Madelaine Sweeney, and senior Erinn Hill, who all competed for the Badgers at the Jimmy Grant Invitational in December, taking second, third, and fourth respectively in the 3,000 meters. They are joined by freshman Maggie Munson, who will be competing in her first indoor event of the season.
2. THROWING DOWN WITH THE BADGERS: Redshirt senior Chloe Lindeman highlights the Badger throwers this weekend. 2023 NCAA Indoor All-American and UW indoor school record holder in the weight throw at 78 feet, Lindeman placed second in the weight throw at the 2023 Big Ten Indoor Championships. Graduate student Olivia Roberts looks to continue her success in the weight throw starting this weekend, Roberts finished one place behind Lindeman last season at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and finished 13th at the NCAA Championships.
3. SPRINTING BADGERS: Senior Kiley Robbins returns to the track after starting her season with a third-place finish at the Jimmy Grant Invitational in Iowa City in December and claiming sixth in the 300 meters in 42.60. Sophomore twins Rachel and Sydney Robinson continue their UW seasons in the sprints alongside Robbins, Rachel Robinson is coming off a seventh place finish in the 300 meters with a time of 43.14.
4. MIDDLE DISTANCE STANDOUTS: Leading the group of middle-distance athletes is freshman Katya Geyer, who finished fourth in the 600 meters at the Jimmy Grant Invitational in 1:36.19. UW also had three athletes finish in the top ten of the mile as Ruby Madden finished fourth, followed by Anna Schoesser and Ashley Peterson, coming in eighth and ninth, respectively.
