Cougars close out Bryan Clay Invitational and UCLA Legends Invitational

LOS ANGELES, Calif. / AZUSA, Calif. — Washington State men’s and women’s track and field teams combined for four top-10 all-time finishes on the third and final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational, while a group of Cougar throwers tallied four top-two finishes down the road in Los Angeles at the UCLA Legends Invitational on Saturday to cap a busy week of competition in Southern California.

Grant Buckmiller shaved .08 seconds off of his season-best time in the men’s 400m dash, clocking a 46.09 to win Saturday’s Bryan Clay Invitational and improve the sixth-best 400-meter time in Cougar men’s history.  Jasneet Nijjar followed with a 52.79 in the women’s 400m, the best time of her career on an outdoor track and the third-fastest in program history.

John Paredes later won the men’s 110m hurdles in a lifetime-best 13.68, the seventh-best time in Cougar history, and the men’s 4x400m relay team finished second in the fifth-best time in program history at 3:06.56.

Ronald Grueso Mosquera picked up the lone win for the Cougar throwers at the UCLA Legends Invitational, reaching a first-place mark of 18.24m.  Nana Gyedu hit a season-best 15.69m in the women’s shot put, while Cody White (javelin, 59.79m) and Mason Mahacek (discus, 41.47m) each recorded PR’s in their respective field events from Drake Stadium.
