Cougars Dominate at Cougar Classic


PULLMAN, Wash. Maribel Caicedo lowered the WSU school record and the Ecuadorian National record in 100m hurdles finishing in an impressive 12.85 seconds, and Eva Lowder finished the day breaking the school record in pull volt at the Washington State Cougar Classic on Saturday. 

Laura Lindquist (46.65m/ 153′ 0″) and Blake Sturgis (63.18m/ 207′ 3″) both took 1st place in Javelin, while Ben Chappell (62.22m/ 204′ 1″) took first in the men’s hammer throw. Neveah Wilson (47.07m) took home her second win of the season with a personal best in discus. 

Maribel Caicedo, Brooke Lyons, Jasneet Nijjar, and Skylar Walton (44.55) combined to took both first place and third for all-time at WSU in the 4×100 relay.

Leif Sawson (1500m), John Parades (110m Hurdle) (PR), Skyler Walton (100m), Grant Buckmiller (100m, 200m), Neema Kimtai (800m) (SB), Jared Malvey (400m hurdles) (PR), Jasneet Nijjar (200m), Maribel Caicedo (100m hurdles) (PR) all took home first in their respective events. 

Washington State closed out the day with a trio of field event podium finishes as Nana Gyedu (shot put), Tatum Moku (pole vault) and Eva Lowder (pole vault) paced their respective events. Gyedu hit a mark of 15.65m to win the women’s shot while Moku (4.13m) and Lowder (4.26m) breaking the WSU school record for pole vault and bumping her ranking to 13th in the NCAA were the final two competitors in the women’s pole vault competition.
