GAINSEVILLE, Fla. — University of Missouri track and field wrapped up the second day of the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday on Percy Beard Track and James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Florida. The women’s side concluded the day tied for 13th with eight team points, while the men’s team tied for 11th with 10 team points.
The men’s team saw a pair of top-eight placements on the afternoon. In the men’s 3000m steeplechase, Royce Fisher put in his best effort in the event with a personal-best 9:03.97 run that earned him a sixth-place finish for the second top-eight SEC placement of his career.
Emanuele Bellanova closed out his first season as a Tiger by finishing eighth with 6279 points in the decathlon. He is the first Mizzou decathlete to earn team points since 2019, as he had a solid day in the field events by taking two third-place results in the javelin and discus.
On the track, Davis Helmerich qualified for an SEC final for the third time in his career, earning an automatic qualification to the men’s 1500m final by finishing second in his heat of preliminaries. The event final is scheduled for 5:25 p.m. CT Saturday, where he hopes to earn the second top-eight finish of his career.
