This Saturday (8th June), the BMC Grand Prix returns, this time heading to Watford. It promises a thrilling evening of top-tier athletics, featuring some of the best middle and long-distance runners from the UK and wider world.
The Women’s 800m A race will showcase a blend of international talent and domestic prowess. Leading the charge is Bendere Oboya from Australia, who enters the race with an impressive personal best of 1:59.01. Watch out also for World 800m semi-finalist Ellie Baker of Brighton Phoenix who’s talent is highlighted by her personal best of 1:59.52. Also entered is Isabelle Boffey who has a best of 1:59.30.
The Men’s 800m A race features a competitive field with athletes from various countries. Archie Davis of Brighton Phoenix stands out with a personal best of 1:44.72 making him the leading contender. Reece Sharman-Newell, representing Basingstoke & Mid Hants looks to secure back-to-back BMC Grand Prix wins after his triumph in Manchester.
The Women’s 1500m A race is set to be equally exciting. Sarah McDonald from Birchfield H leads the field with a personal best of 4:00.46. Harmilan Bains-Kaur of India, who has a best of 4:05.39, and Delia Sclabas from Switzerland, who’s best is 4:10.10, are also expected to be strong competitors.
In the Men’s 1500m A race, Morocco’s Abdellatif Sadiki leads the entries with an impressive personal best of 3:33.59, making him the runner to watch. Joe Wigfield from Wirral is also a contended with his best of 3:36.57, as is Istvan Szogi from Hungary, who’s run 3:36.63.
The Women’s 5000m A race will feature Alexandra Millard from Invicta East Kent, Sarah Astin from Belgrave, and Hannah Irwin of Cambridge & Coleridge. Whilst the Men’s 5000m A race will follow featuring. Marc Scott from Richmond & Zetland, Jonathan Davies of Reading AC, and Johnny Livingstone from Exeter.
