Three Huskies Named Academic All-Americans

SEATTLE — For the third time under coaches Andy and Maurica Powell, the Husky Track & Field program has equaled its record for Academic All-Americans, as a trio of Dawgs earned the prestigious honor. Chandler Ault, Prestin Artis, and Nastassja Campbell all were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Team for track and cross country.

Just 92 athletes at the Division I level earn Academic All-America honors, with Washington athletes earning three of those spots. This is the third time in the past five years that UW has had three Academic All-Americans, and last year UW earned two. Prior to 2020, Washington had multiple Academic All-Americans only once, in 2013, when it had two.

From 1987-2014, the Huskies had a total of 14 Academic All-America honors. Just in the past five years, Washington has earned 11.

Ault earns his first Academic All-America honor as he owns a 3.92 grade point average earning his degree in Data Science. He was named to the First Team. The former Princeton transfer had a record-breaking final season with the Dawgs this spring, setting the School Record in the javelin, winning the Pac-12 title with a Meet Record, and taking runner-up at the NCAA Championships where he threw another School Record of 260-2.

Artis also garners his first Academic All-America as he was selected on the Third Team. Artis is a Visual Communication Design major with a 3.55 GPA. He won the Pac-12 Championship in the long jump and had a fifth-place podium finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, also making the NCAA Outdoor Championships and the Olympic Trials.

Campbell was named a First Team Academic All-American for the second time in her career and first time as a Husky. She also earned First Team honors in 2022 while at Arkansas. She completed her Masters in Public Policy with a 3.74 GPA, while taking fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the pole vault and taking part in a UW pole vault podium sweep at the Pac-12 Championships.
