Tigers Begin Indoor Season at Danville Opener


COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Track and Field will open its 2025 season at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University on Saturday, December 7 at Track & Tennis Center.

Rahel Broemmel, Nicole Louw and Blake Morris will represent the Tigers, with Broemmel and Louw racing in the 3000m at 1:05 p.m. CT and Morris in the 5000m at 6:30 p.m.

Broemmel will begin her Mizzou track and field career this weekend. During the 2024 cross country season, she made an immediate impact with the Tigers, garnering 2024 All-SEC Second Team accolades and solidifying a great first year with a career-best 6k during the SEC Championship (19:39.7). 

As a freshman at Arkansas State, Broemmel was named the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Freshman of the Year, as well as a silver medalist in both indoor and outdoor 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship.

After a strong 2024 indoor season, senior Nicole Louw is looking to close out her Missouri career with an even stronger 2025 campaign. Louw began the year with an impressive cross country season, earning her season-best 6k, running a 20:31.1 at the SEC Championships on Nov. 1.

Within the heat of February in track season, Louw took the No. 9 spot as a Missouri All-Time Top 10 performer in DMR, racing 11:27.28 with Brianna Lee, Kelsey Schweizer and Anneken Viljoen during the SEC Indoor Championships this past February.

During the cross country season, Morris, a senior, set a personal best of 23:55.5 for the 8k at the SEC Championship. He also earned a 12th-place finish at the Alabama Crimson Classic in October.

To highlight the 2024 indoor season, Morris finished sixth in the 5000m in 14:44.62 at the Vanderbilt Invitational and 8:25.88 race in the 3000m at the Music City Challenge. He closed out indoor season with a 14:45.13 performance in the 5000m at the SEC Indoor Championship.

The Tigers collected numerous titles this past 2024 season, including SEC Champions and All-American honors. 

The program also sent nine athletes to the USA Olympic trials over the summer. Mitch Weber left his Missouri career with a fourth-place finish in the discus throw at the 2024 NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, en route to his first First-Team All-American honors.
