NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers track and field saw a program record 19 Scarlet Knights qualify for the NCAA East Regional beginning on Wednesday, May 25 through Saturday, May 28 at the Robert C. Haugh Complex in Bloomington, Ind.
The group is comprised of school record holders and medal winners, including Big Ten Champions. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a successful 2022 Big Ten Outdoor Championships in which the group recorded its most podium finishes and three conference gold medals.
“This was an extremely competitive year within the NCAA,” said Bobby Farrell, director of track and field and cross country. “For us to qualify our highest total athletes in program history is very exciting. I’m so proud of our athletes and coaches. They’ve worked tirelessly for this moment and it’s wonderful to see their hard work pay off. This month is what it’s all about. We need to climb the ranks of the Big Ten and get more and more athletes to NCAA’s. That’s what this team is working for and that’s what our future athletes are coming here to do. We can’t wait to get out to Bloomington!”
On the women’s team, the track events will be represented by Sydney Hawkins, Icisys Sadler, Shanelle Colmon and Ajae Alvarez-Tyler in the 4×100-meter relay. Hawkins will also race in the 100-meter, while Charlee Crawford will serve as an alternate on the 4×100 relay team. Reanda Richards will compete in the 400-meter hurdles, while distance runners Lou Mialhe and Alex Carlson will run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 1,500-meter, respectively.
Big Ten Pole Vault Champion Chloe Timberg will lead the women’s team in the field events. She will be joined by fellow Big Ten Championship podium finishers Alivia Ash in the high jump, Jasmine Van Note in the shot put and Alexa Gardner in the javelin. Alicia Campbell rounds out the crew as she qualified for competition in the shot put.
The men’s team will feature a pair of Scarlet Knights on the track in Big Ten Championship podium finisher Billy Hill in the 1,500-meter and Jameson Woodell, who captured a school record in the 400-meter hurdles at the conference championship meet.
Big Ten Champions A’nan Bridgett and Joshua Mather will headline the men’s group in the field events. Bridgett competed the Big Ten sweep winning indoor and outdoor gold in the long jump,…
