The Hall boys and Glastonbury girls teams defended their Central Connecticut Conference titles on Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven. Hall scored 90 points to outdistance Bloomfield by 25 points with Windsor at 55 points. On the girls side it came down to the 4x400m with Glastonbury holding onto a three point lead and racing to the relay victory that gave them the team crown. Windsor ladies finished in the same spot as their boys team with 67 points.

Boys Championship
With 31 teams in the conference, wins are hard to come by, but Hall boys still took home three gold medals. Their 4x800m team of Benjamin Lewis, Jonah Schulman, Nathan Yingling and Gabe Sisk combined to finish in a time of 8:26.65 with Sisk, the New England runner-up in the 600m returning to win the event in 1:23.99. Liam Wright entered the pole vault when all the other competitors were done for the day and cleared 13 and 14 feet before going for the meet record of 15 feet. He wasn’t able to get that mark but still came away with ten points.
While the Titans were without the services of two of their top athletes Joe Nham and Jon York they still pulled off the win with a well balanced attack, placing athletes in 10 of 15 events. While they are normally better known for their long sprinters and middle distance runners, the Titans scored a combined 35 points in the pole vault and shot put to put them over the top.
Windsor veteran relay team of Taeshawn Berry, Maxim Copeland, Damion Sparrow and Hunter Howard started off the meet with a meet record time of 1:30.33 in the 4x200m. What is interesting is they broke their own 2015 record. That was the same year Windsor and Weston both broke the State Open record with the Trojans claiming the win in a time of 1:30.33, the exact time the Warriors ran on Saturday.
Tolland’s Colby Bornstein ruled the distance events, winning the 1600m in 4:20.19 and returning to claim a second gold medal in the 3200m finishing in 9:27.98. The senior defeated Hall’s Isaac Mahler, the New England cross country runner-up and has risen to become among the elite in the state. His time in the 1600m is now the state leading time in the event while his 3200m time is second in the state.
