Cross Country Schedule Announced for 2022 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams are set for five regular-season races in 2022 leading up to postseason competition.

“I’m excited about this year’s schedule,” Sara Mason Vergote, Ohio State’s head cross country coach, said. “On both sides we have mix of veteran runners and newcomers, so I purposely chose a schedule that provides experience for our younger runners, while also setting up our top men and women to be successful in the championship portion of the season.”

The year will start at the Mike Baumer Cross Country Classic in Dayton, Ohio, Sept. 2, followed by the Big Ten Preview in Ann Arbor, Mich., Sept. 9, giving the squads a look at the 2022 Big Ten Championships course.

“The Big Ten cross country championship is unique because most conference teams do not regularly host meets so the actual course we compete on is not familiar,” Mason Vergote said. “We do know this year’s course at Michigan is supposed to be very hilly and challenging so it will be critical for our athletes to have experience running on it in September.”

Sept. 23 the Buckeyes will head to Minneapolis for Minnesota’s Roy Griak Invitational before traveling to Chicago for the Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola Sept. 30. The regular season wraps up at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, Oct. 15.

Michigan will host this year’s Big Ten Championships Oct. 28. The NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships will be in Terre Haute, Ind., Nov. 11 and Oklahoma State will host the NCAA Championships Nov. 18 in Stillwater, Okla.
