14 Athletes Join Indiana Women’s Track and Field Program


BLOOMINGTON, Ind.  – Indiana Cross Country and Track and Field Head Coach Ron Helmer will welcome 14 athletes to Indiana’s Women’s Track and Field team for the 2022-2023 season, he announced on Wednesday afternoon.
 
This group will contribute to a variety of event groups including the Sprints/Hurdles, Horizontal Jumps, Pole Vault, Distance and High Jump.
 
“I’m excited to announce our 2022-2023 women’s recruiting class,” Helmer said. “This group includes high level transfers, freshmen coming off high school state championships and walk on athletes who we have identified as having the ability and desire to develop into high level Big Ten contributors.
 
The Hoosiers will add three in the horizontal jumps into an already strong event group in Bloomington.
 
Serena Bolden, a transfer from LSU, brings personal bests of 6.27m/20-7 in the Long Jump and 12.84m/42-1.5 in the Triple Jump. She finished in the top-12 of both events at this year’s SEC Outdoor Championships.
 
Kelly Moran (Stillwater, N.Y.) and Lauren Tincher (Aurora, Ohio) join out of the high school ranks. Moran will compete in the Long Jump and Triple Jump while Tincher doubles in the sprints as well.
 
Ryann Parrish (Fort Wayne, Ind.), Kylee Poulton (Holland, Mich.) and Tripti Tiwari (Round Rock, Texas) add depth to the sprints and hurdles.
 
Jessica Mercier, a transfer from Michigan, moves to Bloomington, bringing along a personal best of 4.36m/14-3 in the Pole Vault. She was the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Champion in the event and was a NCAA Indoor Championship qualifier in the Pole Vault this season.
 
The distance crew is bolstered by the addition of six athletes, all which will run Cross Country in the fall as well this season. Allie Latta (Fishers, Ind.), Erin Milligan (Hinsdale, Ill.), Alyssa Shope (Blacklick, Ohio), Katelyn Winton (Elmhurst, Ill.), Alivia Romaniuk (Carmel, Ind.), Tori Schmidt (Dallas, Texas) will all represent the Hoosiers, coming to Bloomington out of the high school ranks.
