Joel Brown – Women’s Track & Field – Ohio State Buckeyes

A three-time All-American at Ohio State, Joel Brown assumes a volunteer assistant capacity with concentration on the Buckeye sprinters. Brown has competed internationally since the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, where he was a semifinalist in the 110-meter hurdles.

In his senior campaign last season, Brown was the NCAA Mideast regional champion in the 110m hurdles and defended his 2003 Big Ten title in the same event at the 2004 league meet. Brown, who held the top 110m hurdles time in the NCAA for most of the 2004 season, is the Ohio State record holder in both the indoor 60-meter hurdles (7.77) and the outdoor 110m hurdles at (13.39). Brown was an All-American outdoors in 2003 and 2004 and an indoor winner in 2003. He also won the 60m hurdles at the 2003 Big Ten indoor championships and was an all-conference honoree in the 100-meter dash in 2004 and on the 4×100-meter relay team in 2003.

A four-time Big Ten athlete of the week winner, Brown also claimed first-place at the Penn Relays, winning the Championships of America 110m hurdles in a time of 13.43. He took fourth place at the Penn Relays in 2003.

Brown also excelled in the 200-meter dash, qualifying for the 2004 NCAA[apos]s in that event as well, but did not compete in order to concentrate on hurdles.

Brown, a native of Baltimore, won three Maryland state titles in the 110m and 300m hurdles. He held the Maryland state record in the 300m hurdles at the end of his scholastic career and was a national champion in the 60m hurdles. His efforts helped Woodlawn High School to indoor and outdoor state titles in 1998.

Born Jan. 31, 1980, Brown is the son of John Dorsey and Sharon Brown.
