Florida Gators Cross Country Teams Kick Off their Season at the UCF Invite

 
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators men’s and women’s cross country teams open their season at the UCF Invite at the UCF Softball Complex on Friday September 2nd.
 
The men will compete in the 5k starting at 6:00 p.m. and the women will begin their 5k run starting at 6:30 p.m.
 
Last season, the men’s team came in first (16 points), with five Gators placing in the top 6, in the 6k. All five of those Gators ran a career PR in the 6k at the UCF Invite. Those runners were Javi Vento (18:46.6), Michael Fiore (18:55.7), Cade Monk (18:59.9), Ryan Miller (19:01.4) and Aiden Villasuso (19:13.0), who finished first, second, third, fourth and sixth respectively. Orlando Cicilioni rounded out the men placing 11^th.
 
The women’s team placed second (60 points) at the meet. The Gators had three runners finish in the top 10 of the 5k at this meet and all five runners recorded personal bests. Gianna Forte placed second (16:47.9), Keleigh Scallon followed in third (16:53.7) and Cheyenne Young finished eighth (17:05.8), rounding out the top 10. Jackie Addy (17:41.6) and Julia Lavrador (17:56.4), finished 20^th and 28^th, respectively.

The teams in the UCF Invite facing off against the Gators include Bethune-Cookman FAU, FGCU, FIU, Miami, South Florida, Stetson and UCF.
