KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The 2022 cross country season gets off and running Friday at 8 a.m. ET as the Vols and Lady Vols play host to Chattanooga in the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational at the Cherokee Farms Cross Country Course.

It is UT’s only home meet of the season and the first race under first-year head coach Sean Carlson.

The meet is open and free to the public. For fans attending the meet, spectator parking will be in any on-street parking available on the UT Research Campus.

RACE LINEUPS
Men’s Four-Mile – 8 a.m.
The men’s four-mile race starts things off with many of the Vols’ returners being showcased. Jacob Lewis will be the only athlete making his Tennessee debut for the men.

Canaan Anderson, Riley Buchholz, Will Cronin, Conner Hawkins, Matthew McMillan, Eli Nahom and Jacob Lewis.

Women’s Three-Mile – 8:45 a.m.
The women will follow the men’s race and will feature several returners along with a few newcomers to the program. Andie-Marie Jones, Emma Kate Hamby and Allison Buemi will all make their debut in the Orange & White on Friday.

PRESEASON RANKINGS
Entering the 2022 season, the Vols have been picked to finish third in the SEC and are ranked No. 30 in the nation and No. 3 in the South Region by the USTFCCCA. It is the first time the men have been ranked in the preseason poll since 1999.

The women come into the new campaign picked to finish tied for sixth in the SEC by the league coaches and sit fourth in the South Region.

Tennessee will train next week before jumping back into action on Friday, Sept. 16 with a dual meet against Florida State in Boone, North Carolina.
