Dawgs Return to Action Saturday Morning

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mississippi State’s cross country program returns to the course on Saturday, Oct. 2, for the 21st annual Live in Lou Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.

The MSU women will toe the line at 11:30 a.m. CT in the women’s blue 5K at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.

“This weekend will be the first time this season where we have our full squad at its best health, so I’m excited to see what the outcome will be,” head track and field coach Chris Woods said. “This is a pivotal meet for us at the midway point of the season that can give us great insight into what we can do at the Southeastern Conference championship meet at the end of this month.”

Eight Bulldogs will suit up Saturday morning, a lineup that will consist of four sophomores, three freshmen and one junior.

Madison Jones returns to the fold after clocking State’s fastest 5K of the year in the Bulldogs’ last race at the North Alabama Showcase. Fellow freshman Hunter Anderson gets set to make her third appearance in the Maroon and White after recording her fastest time of the season two weeks ago. Savannah McIntosh will be the third freshman to lace up in what will be her second competition of the season.

Rounding out the lineup for MSU is Zoe Brito, Gracie Gibson, Hayley Ogle, Grace Ritchie and Mary Beth Woodward.

State will be one of five SEC schools competing at the Classic, joined by Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee.
