CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished in the top two spots at the Gans Creek Classic on Friday, September 30. The men competed in the 8k while the women ran the 6k course.
Graduate student Colin Yandel continues to improve his marks this season as he set a new personal-best 8k (24:01.9) and paced the Illini men finishing 14th. Senior Olivia Howell set a new personal-best 6k (20:21.1) on her way to another first-place finish.
Plenty of Fighting Illini improved their personal-best today; senior Jack Roberts (24.10.3), freshman Brady Masters (24:17.9), junior Anthony Maida (24:29.1), junior Tyler Cushing (24:29.2), senior Michael Madiol (24:39), senior Will O’Brien (25:16.5), and senior Bennett Melone (25:22) rounds out the men’s bests.
The women would not be outdone, new personal-best include; sophomore Sam Poglitsch (20:53.2), sophomore Halle Hill (20:53.9), sophomore Kora Malecek (21:31.4), sophomore Maggie Gamboa (21:32.4), and fifth year Ayah Aldadah (21:38.9).
