Engel Again Named Big Ten Athlete of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After her fourth Top 2 finish of the season, Addie Engel, a junior on the Ohio State cross country team, has been selected Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. This is the third Big Ten weekly honor of the season for Engel and the fourth of her career.

At the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational last Saturday, Engel placed second, leading the Buckeyes to a first-place finish as a team. She ran the 6K in a time of 20:02.3, just three seconds off her personal 6k best, set at NCAA Regionals last season.

Engel has been first or second in each of the four races she has run this season and has finished in the Top 16 in 10 of her last 11 races dating to the start of the 2021 season. The only race outside that mark was the 2021 NCAA Championships when she was 66th as an individual qualifier in her first appearance.

Next up for Engel and the No. 22-ranked Buckeyes is the Big Ten Championships Oct. 28 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
