SAN FRANCISCO – Washington State women’s cross country runner Neema Kimtai was officially recognized as a Second Team All-Pac 12 honoree as announced by the league office Wednesday. Kimtai earned the distinction with her 10th-place finish at last week’s Pac-12 Cross Country Championships held at the UC-Riverside Ag Ops Course.
Kimtai opened the season by taking third at the WSU Invite and placed well in the completive field at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, fifteenth in the women’s field. Neema Kimtai rounded out the regular season with a 47th-overall finish at the Weis-Crocket Invitational.
She is a member of a WSU women’s team that came in at No. 8 in this week’s West Region rankings. The Cougar women have reached as high as No. 19 in the country this season in the FloTrack NCAA Division I team rankings heading into this year’s NCAA regional.
Kimtai, a junior from Kitale, Kenya, will look to qualify for a spot at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and she along with the rest of the WSU men’s and women’s teams head to Seattle next week for the NCAA West Regionals on Fri., Nov. 11.
