Buckeye Trio Earns All-Region Honors – Ohio State Buckeyes

USTFCCCA Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With Top 9 finishes at Saturday’s NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, Addie Engel, Daniella Santos and Andrea Kuhn of the Ohio State women’s cross country team all earned spots on the All-Great Lakes Region Team. All region honors are awarded by the USTFCCCA to the Top 25 finishers in each region. The trio of Ohio natives, who also earned All-Big Ten honors this season, helped the Buckeyes to a second-place finish at the regional, clinching an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

Engel, a sophomore from Springfield, Ohio, finished as the runner-up at the regional, running a personal-best time of 19:57.8 in the 6k, and is now a two-time all-region selection. She is the sixth Buckeye to earn all-region honors at least twice. Engel was the 2022 Big Ten Champion, the first conference title in program history, to earn her second All-Big Ten honor. She finished first or second in all six meets this season. Over the last two seasons, she has 10 Top 4 finishes and has been in the Top 16 in 12 of 13 races, with the lone exception the 2021 NCAA Championships, where she finished 66th as an individual qualifier.

Santos, a junior who calls Hilliard, Ohio, home, was seventh at regionals, finishing in 20:14.5, her personal best. She has been the No. 2 finisher for Ohio State in all six races she has run this season, placing among the Top 7 in each. She notched a fourth-place finish at Big Tens to earn her first All-Big Ten accolade after finishing 55th a season ago.

A native of Pataskala, Ohio, Kuhn placed ninth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in a time of 20:16.1. It was her personal best, passing the 20:17.7 she ran at Big Tens to finish sixth and earn all-conference laurels, after finishing 70th last year. Kuhn was the third point-getter for the Buckeyes in the six races she ran and finished in the Top 10 in each.

This is the fourth time Ohio State had three all-region selections (2009, 2011, 2019). Ohio State has now compiled 17 all-region honors since 2011.
