The 115th Millrose Games, the most historic indoor track & field event in the world, will welcome a stacked field in the Men’s 3000m, led by defending champion Geordie Beamish.

The 3000m is the longest race of the afternoon, and it also figures to be one of the most competitive events at the Millrose Games. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, February 11th at the iconic New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory.

Beamish, who is the New Zealand record holder in the indoor 3000m and 5000m, won last year’s race in thrilling fashion, going from fifth to first on the final lap with a furious kick to win in 7:39.50.

Coming in second place in last year’s Millrose Games was Cooper Teare, a former NCAA champion at the University of Oregon. Teare will return to the Millrose stage with revenge on his mind, after becoming the U.S. national champion in the 1500m last summer.

“I’m beyond excited to be returning to the Millrose Games to experience the electric crowds and fast times!” said Teare.

While the rematch of last year’s tight finish is enticing enough, there are numerous other athletes who are more than capable of winning this race. Contenders to watch for include:

Josh Kerr, Olympic bronze medalist for Great Britain in the 1500m. Kerr is the European indoor mile record holder, and was the runner-up in last year’s legendary Wanamaker Mile at The Armory.

Luis Grijalva, who holds eight national records for Guatemala, and reached the 5000m final at the Tokyo Olympics. Grijalva finished fourth in the 5000m at last summer’s World Championships.

Nico Young, a standout runner at Northern Arizona University, who recently finished second at this year’s NCAA Cross Country Championships. In 2020, Young set the national high school 3000m record at the Millrose Games, running 7:56.91.

Joe Klecker, defending national champion and Olympian in the 10,000m, as well as a former two-time NCAA champion at the University of Colorado.

Morgan McDonald, a former four-time NCAA champion at the University of Wisconsin, and an Olympian in the 5000m representing Australia.

Olin Hacker and Dylan Jacobs, defending NCAA champions in the 5000m and 10,000m, respectively.

As always, the Millrose Games will feature the absolute best athletes in the sport, including dozens of Olympians and world champions. Already announced are a pair of heavyweight showdowns in the pole vault with Katie Nageotte,…
