Trio of Utes Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Utah cross country team once again earned USTFCCCA (U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) All-Academic Team honors for the 10th-consecutive season with a team GPA of 3.71 while Keelah Barger, Simone Plourde and Emily Venters garnered individual all-academic accolades.

Utah’s cumulative team GPA of 3.71 was second-highest among Pac-12 schools on the women’s side. Head coach Kyle Kepler‘s teams have earned team all-academic honors 16 of the 18 years he’s been at the helm.

Venters picked up her third-career USTFCCCA All-Academic award while Barger and Plourde earned the award for the first time in their career on the cross country side. This marks the eighth-straight season Utah has at least one individual earn the honor. The three individual accolades is the most for Utah in program history.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
