Lindeman breaks school record in hammer throw


STANFORD, Calif. – The Wisconsin women’s track and field team traveled to the Stanford Invitational on Friday and Saturday, winning one event and coming home with multiple athletes setting new personal best in their perspective events. 

Lindeman shines on day one of competition 

Redshirt junior Chloe Lindeman continues to dominate as a UW thrower. The Illinois native broke her second school record of the season, winning the hammer throw with a toss of 208 feet, 6 inches. Lindeman improves upon the previous record of 207-3 set by Haley Showalter in 2016 and leads the Big Ten this season. Redshirt senior Olivia Roberts joined Lindeman on the podium, finishing third with a toss of 188-2. 

In the shot put, Danni Langseth earned a fifth-place finish with a throw of 49-9.

Badgers shine in 10,000 meters

Three athletes excelled in the 10,000-meter run, all earning personal best times and spots on the Badgers top-10 performance list.

Junior Samantha Stieve led the group, finishing in 33:15.30 to take fourth and moving into seventh at UW. Graduate student Danielle Orie came in fifth with a time of 33:16.17, followed by junior Alexa Westley, finishing seventh at 33:17.64. Orie and Westley move into at eighth and ninth, respectively, in school history. The trio also have the three fastest times in the Big Ten this season.

In the 5,000 meters, redshirt freshman Leane Willemse finished second in a personal best time of 16:16.82. 

Redshirt senior Lucinda Crouch competed in the 3,000 steeplechase, crossing in 10:13.81 and finishing ninth overall. 

Wisconsin also picked up two top-five finishes in the 1,500 meters. Junior Victoria Heiligenthal finished second in 4:22.78 while redshirt sophomore Emma Watcke crossed in 4:24.05 for a fifth-place finish. 

Robbins, Heyroth qualify for finals

Kiley Robbins and Mackenzie Heyroth both qualified for the finals in the respective races. Robbins placed third in the 100-meter finals in 11.65 while Heyroth took eighth in the 100-meter hurdle finals in 14.12. 

Graduate student Tia Dorshorst opened her outdoor season, placing 10th in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-4 ½. Julia Moore finished right behind Dorshorst, with an 11th-place finish also clearing 12-4 ½. 

Also in the field events, graduate student Armoni Brown placed ninth in the long jump with a distance of 18-5. Freshman
