Track and Field set for KT Woodman Classic


COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri track and field team will compete in its fifth meet of the 2023 outdoor season at the KT Woodman Classic Friday and Saturday in Wichita, Kan.

The Tigers will have 42 athletes competing between the men’s and women’s teams across the two-day event.

KT WOODMAN CLASSIC

  • Junior Mitchell Weber, who currently holds the second-longest discus throw in outdoor program history (60.99m/200-1), will compete in the event on Saturday alongside sophomore Rece Rowan — who holds ninth-best throw in Missouri’s history with 56.77m/186-3.
  • Alica Burnett, who posted a career-high 11.74 time in the 100m at the Yellow Jacket Invitational on March 17 and a personal-best 24.58, will compete in the same event on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: TEXAS RELAYS / BOBCAT INVITATIONAL

  • Jayson Ashford, Blake Hays, Robert Hines and Zachary Charles placed second overall in the men’s 4x100m relay in 40.40s — ranking eighth in program history.
  • Graduate Sydney Oberdiek claimed a personal-best throw of 62.99m (206-8) in the women’s hammer throw. Oberdiek additionally threw the fifth-best mark in the program’s record book.
  • Graduate Kaia Harris posted a personal-best mark in the women’s discus with a 56.93m (186-9) throw.
  • Newly-transferred sophomore Valentina Bornacelli recorded a personal best in the women’s javelin with a 56.00m (183-9) throw — good enough for third all time in Missouri outdoor history.
  • Graduate Sophia Rivera finished second in the women’s javelin throw with a 55.68m (182-8) distance.
  • Sophomore Claudina Diaz marked a personal best in the women’s high jump, leaping 1.82m (5-11.50) — fourth all-time in Missouri history.
