Irish Take Home Four Top Five Finishes at Penn Relays – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Official Athletics Website

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Fighting Irish distance squad made a name for themselves at the 2023 Penn Relays when they had four top five finishes. They were headlined by Erin Strzelecki and Tom Seitzer in their respective events taking first and second place.

The first night of the relays saw Strzelecki collect a first place finish in the 5000 meter championship run. She crossed the finish line at 15:51.88 for a super close one-second victory. This finish gave Strzelecki a new personal best in the event. Tom Seitzer also made a name for himself and earned a new personal best when he took second place in the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase. He ran for a time of 8:41.15.

The college women’s distance medley relay featured a Notre Dame team of Katie Thronson, Eve Balseiro, Katie Ryan, and Olivia Markezich. They took fifth place in the race with a time of 10:59.14. 

On the final day of the meet, the 4xMile race had the Notre Dame squad of Dalen Ackley, CJ Singleton, Jake Renfree and Carter Solomon cross the finish line at 16:16.01. With their finish, they took home ninth place. The women’s 4×1500 meter race featured a fifth place finish from Katie Thronson, Anna Sophia Keller, Siona Chisholm, and Olivia Markezich. They finished with a time of 17:19.95.

The Irish are back in action for the final regular season meet on May 5 at the Billy Hayes Invitational.
