SAN FRANCISCO – A total of 110 Utah Athletics student-athletes were honored today with recognition from the Pac-12 Conference on the 2023 Winter Academic Honor Roll. The Utes’ 110 selections from seven sports are second-most in the conference behind only Stanford, which placed 145 student-athletes from 10 sports on the honor roll.
The Winter Academic Honor Roll includes Utah student-athletes who participated in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, skiing, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and indoor track and field. Utah’s academic excellence in the winter comes alongside phenomenal performance in competition, which included a national championship by the Utah Ski Team, a third-place NCAA finish by gymnastics, a Sweet 16 appearance by women’s basketball and numerous NCAA championships qualifiers in men’s and women’s swimming and diving and indoor track and field.
In all, 854 student-athletes from the 12 institutions that form the “Conference of Champions” were recognized for their work in the classroom in the winter seasons. Any student-athlete on their respective team roster with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3-or-above, and who has served at least one year in residence at the institution, is eligible for the distinction.
Utah’s honorees include six from men’s basketball, seven from women’s basketball, 10 from gymnastics, 27 from indoor track and field, 21 from skiing, 14 from men’s swimming and diving and 25 from women’s swimming and diving.
