Shelly -Ann Fraser-Pryce is in Nairobi for the 2023 Kip Keino Classic!

SAFP is opening her 2023 season at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya. Last year, Shelly-Ann just smoked the field in the 100 meters last year, and that began an incredible season that finished with a fine 100-meter win at the World Championships.

What is it about Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce? The Jamaican superstar has been shaking it up since 2011, and she does not look like she is willing to give up her title at 100 meters anytime soon. SAFP is a fun interview, always quotable, and she seems to enjoy, or perhaps, it is better to say that she has found a way to tolerate questions repeated city by city as she traverses the world, finding the perfect race!

The funny thing is, each and every season, I hear that SAFP is going to give throw in the proverbial sprint towel. I beg to differ. Shelly-Ann is one of those amazing athletes who has been able to see the fun in each and every race. Her focus is furious. Never discount her in a race at the century distance. Fans get it, and the 60,000 fans in Nairobi this weekend will be whooping it up as if, for 10-point seconds, they are Kenyans channeling Jamaican sprint love!

What is 2023 for SAFP? Well, the Jamaican pocket rocket will be defending her five 100-meter titles at World Champs in Budapest in August 2023, so mark your calendars!

NAIROBI (KEN): Multiple Olympic and World champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica, who is ready to defend her 100 meters title at the Absa Kip Keino Classic (WACT Gold) on Saturday, said she is excited to start her season in Africa. She has not competed since last September in Zurich. “I don’t know where I am as opposed to last year when I had at least run one race in 200m in Kingston. This is me just coming to see where I am, have a good time, and execute fantastic times.” From Nation.
