JACKSONVILLE, FL – The NC State track and field team wrapped up competition on the final day of the NCAA East Regional and saw three athletes grab their spot at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
MIDDLE-DISTANCE
Katelyn Tuohy began her day by turning in a time of 4:14.09 in the women’s 1500m quarterfinals to finish seventh and move onto Nationals.
DISTANCE
The Stony Point, NY native made sure she kept enough gas in the tank, as hours later she submitted a facility record time of 15:31.00 to win the women’s 5000m semifinals and punch her second ticket to NCAA’s.
Kelsey Chmiel and Amaris Tyynismaa also ran in the event, and each recorded a top-10 finish and qualified for the National Championship round. Chmiel clocked in at 15:38.39 to take fifth and set a new PB, while Tyynismaa came in eighth after running a time of 15:51.41. Chmiel also qualified for NCAA’s in the women’s 10,000m on Thursday night.
